Dental Centre!
If you recently have seen another dentist, or if you are in need of an emergency appointment, we will adapt the appointment to your needs. If you have had x-rays taken at another dental office in the last year, we ask that you request that your previous dental office release them to you, or that they email or mail them to us. Also if you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance information at your first appointment.
What to expect at your first visit...
At your first appointment at Protea Dental Centre, we carefully examine your mouth and jaw, looking for issues that are affecting your oral health right now, or that may affect you in the future. Then we make a plan that takes your complete oral health into account, mapping your future treatments and listing health priorities.
We don’t want you to feel like you’re being left in the dark when it comes to your dental treatment. We will give you all of the information up front and let you make informed decisions.
The exam involves x-rays, intra-oral photography, and other tests to ensure your total oral health, including:

A thorough examination of all soft tissues in your mouth

A detailed examination of your teeth

A periodontal examination (gums and bone supporting teeth)

A detailed orthopedic examination of your jaw joint (TMJ) and masticatory muscles

Oral cancer screening

Occlusal (bite) examination

Only necessary x-rays are taken to determine the presence of decay and obtain baseline data on the condition of bone and jaw joints

Intra-oral photographs (photo's taken insdie your mouth)
